What is it?
It is a grant project called “Electromobility Guarantee — Call I” launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Its aim is to support the market for alternatively fuelled vehicles by supporting the purchase of both zero-emission vehicles and charging stations.
What can the grant cover?
As mentioned, support is available for purchasing:
- a zero-emission vehicle
- passenger car (M1)
- goods vehicle (N1 and N2 up to 4.25 tonnes)
Note that the vehicle must be new or nearly new (up to 6 thousand km driven and delivered within 6 months of first entering service), and passenger cars must not cost more than CZK 1.5 million excluding VAT.
- charging stations on business premises for your own use
Here, note that the charging station must not be accessible to the public for at least 2 years.
Another condition is that you can buy a vehicle without a charging station under the grant, but you cannot buy a charging station without a vehicle. If you buy both, you can receive the grant. 😉
Who qualifies for the grant?
Whether your business is a small limited company or a corporation, businesses of all sizes qualify (except businesses owned by territorial administrative units). The grant is also available to self-employed people.
You must have closed at least 2 accounting periods, have your company's beneficial owners entered in the beneficial ownership register, and have no debts, enforcement proceedings or insolvency (confirmed by a declaration).
How much support is available?
Support takes the form of a bank guarantee for a bank loan combined with a financial contribution.
What probably interests us most is the amount of the financial contribution.
- electric passenger car (M1) — up to CZK 200 thousand/vehicle
- electric goods vehicle (N1) — up to CZK 250 thousand/vehicle
- electric goods vehicle (N2) and FCEV — up to CZK 300 thousand/vehicle
What about contributions for charging stations?
- AC charging station — up to CZK 50 thousand/charging station
- DC charging station up to 40 kW — up to CZK 100 thousand/charging station
- DC charging station over 40 kW — up to CZK 150 thousand/charging station
As for bank-loan guarantees, these are set as follows.
Guarantee amounts for vehicles:
- electric passenger car (M1): from CZK 300 thousand to CZK 1.5 million
- electric goods vehicle (N1): from CZK 300 thousand to CZK 2 million
- electric goods vehicle up to 4.25 tonnes (N2) and FCEV: from CZK 300 thousand to CZK 2.5 million
Guarantee amounts for charging stations:
- AC: up to CZK 100 thousand
- DC up to 40 kW: up to CZK 250 thousand
- DC over 40 kW: up to CZK 400 thousand
When will I receive the financial contribution?
The actual financial contributions are paid after you register the vehicle and submit the relevant documents (purchase agreement, proof of payment of the purchase price, etc.). There is a two-month period for processing the application, starting on the first day of the month after submission. The money then reaches the account you specified in the application.
What are the other conditions?
- the loan itself must be provided by a leasing company or bank cooperating with the National Development Bank, with the guarantee covering up to 70% of the principal of the guaranteed loan
- if you feel like splashing out, one loan (within one project) can finance several vehicles or charging stations
- the minimum loan term is 12 months
- you must not sell the vehicle or charging station for at least 24 months after the grant is paid
How do I apply?
Applications are accepted by National Development Bank branches. On its website you will find the application form for support, which you complete in full, together with the specified annex (Application project). You provide the loan agreement stating the bank guarantee provided by the National Development Bank, and submit the guarantee document.
Personally, I think you will encounter this option at most car dealers, who will help you apply or handle it for you. They often incorporate the financial contribution directly into the quote for a new car, because, let us be honest, a car priced 200 thousand lower can be an attractive draw.
If you are unsure about a car in your business, or anything else, as always, do not hesitate to get in touch.
