What is a data box?
It is a virtual mailbox intended mainly for communication with the state and authorities. It lets us easily send all tax returns or receive messages from the tax office or, for example, the Czech Social Security Administration. You can also use it to communicate with customers and suppliers when you want confirmation of official delivery. It saves trips to the post office and sending registered letters :-).
Who will receive one by law?
From 1.1.2023, one will automatically be created for everyone carrying on business — both individuals (the self-employed) and legal entities (limited liability companies, joint-stock companies, etc.). The state has until 31.3.2023 to create these data boxes. From the day your data box becomes accessible, you are obliged to file tax returns and other forms only through your data box. If you nevertheless submit a paper form, you may receive a CZK 1,000 fine.
